Jegor Zaika was born in Moscow, Russia in 1977. After several years of working as an art-director in major advertising agencies, Zaika started his career as a fashion photographer in 2001. Since that time he was working for the leading titles including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Wallpaper, L'Officiel, Citizen K and Elle in the area of fashion and portrait photography. In 2010 he was invited to teach photography at the British Higher School of Art and Design in Moscow. In 2011 Jegor Zaika decided to move into visual arts. Since that time he has been focusing on his own experiences, pursuing new sincerity in photography. Zaika’s work has appeared in several solo shows and numerous group exhibitions during last years. In 2014 Jegor Zaika moved to Riga, Latvia, to concentrate on his personal projects.
His first monograph - "Trade" - was published in 2009, showing outtakes from editorial and commissioned work done for diverse magazines and individual clients from the beginning of the 2000s to 2009.
