The Flower Carpet is 70 m long by 24 m wide. 1,680 m2 ofbegonias, dahlias, grass, and bark. A hundred volunteersassemble the carpetin less thans six hours. The firts Flower carpet of Brussels was created in 1971 andhas been a showstopper every two years on the Grand-Place since 1986.
Every other summer, on the weekend of August 15th, theFlower Carpet offers a chance to stroll across the Grand-Place, a jewel of Gothic architecture, to inhale the fragrantscent of the flowers and admire its details. Thisextraordinary spectacle is made complete by a visit to thebalcony of the Tawn Hall, wich offers a wide-angle view ofthe work. Every evening you can enjoy a magnificent soundand-light show at the Grand-Place.
This is the historical heart of Brussels. here Gothic style can be seen adjacentto opulent baroque, neo-classical as well as neo-Gothic. The Grand-Place isregarded by its admirers as “the most beautiful central square in the world”!Its construction began in the 15th century, with halls, guild houses and a TownHall. It was virtually razed after 3 full days of bombardment by the FrenchArmy in 1695, yet was rebuilt in less than 5 years, notably by the differentguilds. The tower of the Town Hall is 96 metre hight. Every two years, theheritage jewel. Since 2000 the entire Grand-Place has been listed as aUNESCO world heritage site.
Junhui Fang graduated from renowned Tsinghua University, China and from Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, Italy where he cloths the Vice-President of AACI (Association Degli Artisti Cinese in Italia).He holds several prestigious awards from National Geographic, Florence Biennale, Florence Literature and Visual Art Award, and Siena International Photography Award.
MY GOAL IS PERFORMING MASTERCLASSES IN PHOTOGRAPHY AND PROMOTING PHOTOGRAPHING THE BEAUTY OF EUROPE AMONG INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS.
